Common questions

What people usually ask before or during a first conversation. If yours isn’t here, bring it to that conversation.

Working with me

Will I work with you, or with a team?

With me. This is a solo practice: from the first conversation to the last session, you work with me. For larger team engagements I sometimes bring in a co-facilitator I know well, and you meet them before we begin.

What happens in the first conversation?

We talk about your situation, not about my services. Thirty minutes, by video, free. If I’m not the right person for what you’re facing, I’ll say so, and if I know someone better suited, I’ll tell you who.

How is this different from therapy?

Coaching works with your role, your decisions, and the way you lead. It draws on somatic and psychological methods, but it isn’t treatment. When something comes up that needs a therapist or a doctor, I’ll say so.

How long does an engagement last?

Coaching runs over three, six, or twelve months. Advisory has no fixed length. Team work ranges from a single session to several months. Every engagement has agreed points where we decide together whether to continue, and the aim is that you need me less (How engagements end).

Do you take interim roles?

Yes, as a step up from strategic advisory, not on their own. When the strategy is clear and what’s missing is someone to carry it out, I can join for a defined period as interim COO or CTO, with the handover planned from the first day. I take one interim role at a time, so timing matters; ask in the first conversation. More on Strategic Advisory.

Practicalities

How are fees set?

Per engagement, by scope and format, and set out in a one-page proposal before anything begins. I share fees in our second conversation, once we both know what the work is.

My company is paying. What does it get to know?

We agree the goals with your sponsor at the start, and we can review progress against them together. What we discuss in sessions stays between us.

In person or by video?

Both. In person in Berlin, elsewhere by arrangement, and by video. Team work usually happens in person.

Which languages?

German and English.

AI

Can you help us with AI without building anything?

Yes. That’s what the AI formats in Strategic Advisory are for: what AI changes in your business model, and the judgment your leadership team needs to decide about it. My advice never includes a build. When a strategy calls for one, it becomes a separate decision, and you’re free to give it to anyone.

Do you put what I tell you into AI tools?

Not in coaching, ever. In advisory and team work, only with your explicit consent and only in tools your company approves. The full rule is on Work With Me.

The best questions are about your situation. Bring them.
